Performance Development and Evaluation
People enable an organization’s success, and their applied skills
and creativity are what drive organization’s performance and
growth.
The most productive employees are those that are constantly driven
and unrelenting in their pursuit of goals. Those employees who have
a clear understanding of their company’s vision, mission and values
have specific targets and an action plan for achievement of those
goals, they are motivated and feel empowered to reach them.
The performance development and Evaluation process helps companies
to manage the process of compensation and bonus payments, salary
increases and promotions, as compensation and bonus payments should
be directly tied to performance.
Performance reviews offer an excellent time to discuss the
development plan for employees. Different people within the
organization have different strengths and weaknesses. The appraisal
process can be used to assess employees’ strengths and weaknesses,
identify areas for development, and determine needs for additional
training, coaching or education requirements.
One of the many benefits of performance evaluation is that it
offers a chance for a supervisor and subordinate to have "time out"
for an in depth, one-on-one discussion of issues that otherwise
might not be addressed. Employees informed about performance
expectations are better able to meet the challenges of excellence.
As for the feedback received from a one-on-one discussion, it
provides employees with the necessary information to improve their
on-the-job performance.
